UI Practices

As part of the UI (User Interface) course, I completed exercises to enhance my design skills and abilities. Through these exercises, I was able to experiment with various techniques and tools, refine my design process, and gain valuable experience in creating effective user interfaces. This practice helped me to become a better designer and prepared me to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces in the future.

OVERVIEW
As part of the design process, two applications were selected - one with an appealing design and another with an interesting user interface - to use as reference points.

Challenge

Create a hypothetical version of a Discount Bank app experience and interface elements from the Yellow app.

Solution

The new Discount app looks like a mix between those two platforms

Why This Practice Matters?

The point of this exercise is to increase awareness of the characteristics of interface design, develop proficiency in technical tools, and enhance attention to design details.

Process Overview

For this practice, I followed a three-stage processFirstly, I selected two apps - Application Y (YELLOW) and Application X (DISCOUNT) - to use as references.Next, I analyzed 3-5 screens of Application Y and replicated them at the interface design level, paying meticulous attention to detail. For Application X, I created wireframes for 3-5 screens, thoughtfully considering the user flow and functionality. In the third and final stage, I efficiently produced styles and interface components and applied them to the wireframes of Application X. This resulted in a polished design that effectively met the project requirements. Throughout the project, I worked collaboratively in small groups, providing and receiving feedback to refine our designs iteratively.Overall, this project enabled me to demonstrate my skills in user experience and interface design while showcasing my ability to work collaboratively and incorporate feedback into my process.

Challenge

Improving and designing the tablet screens while developing a design language suitable for the logo

Solution

creating a comfortable and high-quality user experience by designing an intuitive interface and formulating a cohesive design language.

Why This Practice Matters?

This practice project allows me, as a designer to develop and refine my skills, experiment with different techniques, and incorporate branding elements.

Process Overview

The project involved designing and improving tablet screens while creating a design language that complemented the chosen logo. The designer followed a three-stage process:

1. Logo selection and wireframing - The designer selected a logo and refined the wireframes for the tablet screens, ensuring a consistent and cohesive look. The chosen logo and its colors served as inspiration for the interface design.

2. Mobile screen design - The designer converted the mobile home screen to iPhone 8 Plus resolution, ensuring compatibility with various devices. A dark mode version was also created for user customization.

3. Dashboard creation - The designer incorporated the chosen logo and color scheme to create a dashboard that provided users with data on electricity consumption. The end result was a polished and user-friendly design that effectively met the project requirements.
